Microdermabrasion, or, Microcrystal Peeling
(Japan), is a completely new procedure that lightly sandblasts
fine wrinkles and blemishes away. For years, skin conditions
caused by acne, sun-damage, fine lines, etc. have been treated
with painful lasers and chemical peels. These procedures necessitated
weeks and months of recovery time. Now, a modern, safe and
virtually painless alternative to harsh chemical and laser
treatments has been introduced to Japan. Dr. Andy calls it
Particle Skin Resurfacing or Microdermabrasion.
This technology uses a highly controlled spray of medical
aluminum oxide crystal (corungum) to gently exfoliate the
uppermost layers of skin (stratum corneum) and reveal the
younger, lighter, and more radiant skin underneath. There
are virtually no areas of the body that might not benefit
from microdermabrasion. The benefits from this are painless
and require no recouperative period, no anesthesia, and no
down time. Dr. Andy calls it a true "Lunch hour peel"because
it is a procedure that allows a quick return to work after
a 20 to 30 minute session. In Hollywood, it is all the rage.
This technique utilizes a pressurized glass wand that delivers
a fine mist of aluminum oxide crystals that gently exfoliates
the skin to create a polished look, as the outermost dead
skin layer is removed over several sessions. Unlike with harsher
chemical peels, there is no blistering or pain.
This has been called the "pre-Oscar procedure to the stars"since
a quick skin tune-up is possible with no down time where public
appearance must be curtailed. Dr. Andy uses the Dermal Peel
in conjunction with other procedures. It can be used prior
to a face-lift to even out the complexion and after a chemical
peel to fade away discoloration. Microdermabrasion is successful
with all skin types and all ages. Sensitive areas like the
neck can also be treated while chemical peels are generally
not recommended for areas other than the face. Depending on
the severity of the type of skin problems, Dr. Andy may recommend
one procedure over the other. Together with the medical creams
and lotions developed by Dr. Andy, after just one treatment,
you will notice incredible improvements on your skin. I'm
out in the sun a lot and I'm 49 years old. I wanted to improve
my skin. The first two treatments I didn't see much difference.
